Google is expected to make Android Go a must-have requirement for any newly launched devices with 2GB RAM or less, beginning from the next quarter of this year. First announced in 2017, Android Go is specifically designed to run on phones with 1GB RAM or less.

However, according to a leaked Android 11 Go Edition configuration guide, the tech giant is expected to ensure that all new devices with 2GB RAM or less run on Android Go. Prior to this, the lightweight operating system (OS) was never a requirement for manufacturers working on new phones.

In a report, XDA Developers shared excerpts from a leaked copy of the Android 11 Go edition Device Configuration Guide. Dated April 24, 2020, the guide revealed several new requirements that Google may put in place.
